Office FAQs
Have some questions about the Business Office? We hope that the following
information will be helpful to you in your transition into college life at Washington
County Community College.
Who do I talk with about my Student Account?
All staff members in the Business Office are here to assist you while you are a student
at WCCC. All payments and charges are handled through the Business Office. This includes
crediting your account with financial aid funds, when they are received. Specific questions
should be addressed to Linda Winchester.
When is the balance on my account due?
Payment for all bills is due on or before registration day for each semester, unless
previous payment plan arrangements have been made in advance.
Do I still have to pay my bill if I am expecting financial aid?
If you are expecting financial aid to cover your balance, all financial aid paperwork
must be completed and submitted to the Financial Aid Office prior to the start of the
semester.
Can I decide what financial aid is applied to my account first?
All financial aid funds, including student loans and agency payments, will be applied
automatically to your student account until the balance is paid in full.
How do I know the status of my account?
You can check account balance and status by logging
onto http://portal.wccc.me.edu
Where will my statement be sent?
Your statement will be sent to your home address, unless you notify us otherwise.
Are payment arrangements available?
Extended or monthly payments may be arranged through the Business Office for account
balances over $300.00.
What happens if I do not keep up with my payment arrangements?
Students who fail to follow their scheduled payment arrangements may be dropped from
school and/or charged a late fee. The College is authorized to withhold a students
grades, degree, diploma, and transcript for failure to pay all lawful fees and charges.
Is there a charge for the check I gave you that bounced?
Yes, there is a $15.00 charge for all returned checks.
How will I know if I have a refund?
Student refunds are processed as funds become available. Refunds may take up to two weeks.
Checks are processed on a weekly basis and are available after 2:00 p.m. Mondays in the
Business Office. A list will be posted outside of the Business Office when refunds are
available. You are required to present a state-issued ID to receive certain types of
refunds.
Can I receive and send mail while I am a student at WCCC?
Your mail is sorted in the Business Office, and then distributed by the Dorm
Counselor. Out-going mail may be dropped off in the Business Office for delivery
to the Post Office. Stamps are available for sale in the Bookstore.
Are there forms I need to fill out for College Workstudy?
Once you receive your authorization for College Workstudy from the Financial
Aid Office, you must complete a W4 Form and an I-9 Form before you can start
working.
When will I be paid for College Workstudy?
College Workstudy paychecks are available in the Business Office every other
Wednesday. You are required to pick up your own paycheck.
Where do I buy my books?
WCCC has a Bookstore to serve all of your needs. Not only do we offer books
and supplies, but we also offer personal care items, gift items, and
customized apparel.
Can I buy my books with my Financial Aid?
Books and supplies cannot be purchased with your financial aid funds. You will
need to be prepared to purchase these items with your own funds.
What if I have an agency paying my costs for me?
If your educational costs are being sponsored, you will need to supply WCCC
with a written contract.
