Frequently
asked questions
What
does the support person do, anyway?
The
support person is potentially the most important
person on your team. This person's responsibility
includes making sure all of the racers' equipment
is placed in the appropriate transition zones
at the appropriate times. (See "What
are the Transition Zones" below). In races
past, the teams that placed very well were teams
that had the logistical details of the race worked
out, and the support person was completely dialed
in to what the team needed at specific times.
What
are the "Transition Zones"?
There
are three (3) transition zones throughout the
race:
1.
The Bike/Canoe Transition Zone
2. The Canoe/Run Transition Zone
3. The Run/Kayak Transition Zone
These
zones are a roughly 100 ft. by 100 ft. box marked
by flagging tape. It is only within these demarked
zones that support personnel may interact with
their associated racers. It is within these zones
that boats, bikes, and other necessary gear may
be placed for racers to transition between phases
of the race. Each of these zones is monitored
by race officials.
Can
my Support Person help us carry our boat?
Support
Personnel may help carry boats only within the
marked transition zones. Support personnel may
only interact with racers inside the Transition
Zones.
Do
all three racers on a team paddle in the same
canoe?
Yes,
although only two paddles are allowed in each
canoe.
In
the individual race category, do I paddle by myself
in the canoe?
Yes.
