welding class taking a break At WCCC we offer 18 major areas of study. Certificate, diploma and associate degree programs are in high demand for technical and career fields. We also offer a liberal studies program where you can earn the first two years toward a baccalaureate degree.

Liberal Studies/Transfer Program

The liberal studies program at WCCC offers a number of choices for students. If you are not sure what degree to pursue, liberal studies provides a college start. If you wish to transfer after two years, liberal studies is an affordable way to begin the college experience. If you have a financial concern, the tuition at WCCC is very affordable when liberal studies classes are offered during the day, in the evening and online. Students may take one or two courses or may enroll full-time.

With the AdvantageU partnership, a student is first admitted into the liberal studies program, and after successfully earning an associate in arts degree at WCCC, is guaranteed admission as a junior at the Maine public university of his or her choice. For those students enrolled in liberal studies who are pursuing the transfer option, some things must be kept in mind. Since some university programs have specific program criteria and/or GPA requirements, the student needs to work closely with his or her advisor to make certain they meet the requirements for the baccalaureate program they wish to attend. In most cases, a bachelor’s degree can be earned in two years at the selected university. There is no university application fee for a transferring student. It is important for the student to work closely with the advisor early on to make certain all requirements are met.

Career Programs

The career programs at WCCC offer intensive instruction in 18 major areas of study, with numerous one- and two-year options in those programs. Many programs offer a choice of an associate degree curriculum or a one-year certificate or diploma.

WCCC’s career programs are geared to prepare students to successfully obtain employment. Some of the associate degree level programs also offer the opportunity for transfer into baccalaureate programs at four-year institutions.

WCCC students get hands-on learning from industry professionals. Faculty are well known and respected in their respective professions. Their familiarity with the industry and its employers is invaluable.
