Heating Technology
The Heating Technology Certificate
program prepares the student with skills and knowledge
used for careers in the heating industry. Students
learn how to assemble and repair heating systems
according to the code specifications of the National
Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
The safe and efficient use of tools and materials
is stressed as students work in a shop and at
a one week co-op with different types of heating
systems. Instruction in the related skills of
blueprint reading, mathematics, communications,
soldering, and electrical applications is included.
Certified Employee Training Program in Propane
and Natural gas is also available. Upon successful
completion of the program, graduates are eligible
to take the State Journeyman Oil Burner License
Examination and are qualified for employment with
heating contractors and in fuel oil companies
in maintenance or sales positions. Additional
experience may provide graduates with opportunities
as managers, supervisors or operators of their
own business.
