Welcome to WCCC Online

Welcome to WCCC Online. All online courses should be available on the first day of classes, Weekly assignments will be posted and you may complete each week’s assignments at your convenience at any time during the week. Your instructor will provide additional details regarding the work schedule for each course. It is important to your success to complete all assignments in a timely fashion and to submit them on or before the date due. This is especially important to keep you on track and to ensure that discussion assignments are meaningful to all.

Please note that courses will not be available before the first day of classes as instructors will be busy making final adjustments to their courses. There is no advantage in logging in before that date.

Books: Books for all classes are available in the WCCC bookstore. Please stop in or contact bookstore manager Heather McCray at 454-1056 or 800 210-6932.  The bookstore is generally open 8-4:30 on weekdays but maintains extended hours during semester start-up.  Please order your books early to be sure that you are ready to start your classes.

An Introduction to Distance Education: For those of you who have not taken an online course before and are able to come to campus, TRIO is offers a workshop to introduce you to the ins and outs of WebCT. Please contact the TRIO office immediately if you are interested in participating in this workshop.  This workshop is not required but I think you will find it helpful in getting prepared for your online course(s). If you are unable to attend this workshop, the same basic information is covered in the Distance Education Sampler below.

Distance Education Sampler: I have prepared a sample course to assist you in learning to navigate the WebCT software. You may access this course by going to http://dlc.wccc.me.edu.  Your login name for this course only is wccc. Your password is guest. Simply follow the instructions on the course homepage.

Pop-ups

Most problems experienced by online students are related to pop-up blockers. If you have a pop-up blocker installed you will have to set it to accept pop-ups from this site. This can usually be found in your browser’s “tools” menu and is not difficult to set.

Server Outages

One of the problems with technology is that it sometimes fails, and this always seems to happen just when you most need it. WCCC is committed to providing you with a trouble-free learning experience. Should we experience a server outage due to power or equipment failures, we will endeavor to have all systems up and running again as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience. We appreciate your notifying us if the site appears to be down.
