Dr. Craft’s Active Play Workshop Coming to Calais

May 26, 2017

Calais. Healthy Acadia, in partnership with Let’s Go! 5-2-1-0 and Washington County Community College, is pleased to offer a free Active Play! Preschool Physical Activity Workshop on Saturday, June 10, from 9am to 3pm in the gymnasium at Washington County Community College, 1 College Drive, Calais. Active Play! will be facilitated by renowned educator and active play advocate Dr. Diane Craft. Since 1998, Dr. Craft has worked to improve physical activity opportunities for preschool children with and without disabilities. She established Active Play Books in 2007 to provide an accessible learning and implementation platform for child care providers, early childhood educators, and parents of young children.

Workshop participants will learn the importance of physical activity to the physical, emotional and cognitive development of young children. Explore fun, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate physical activities that use inexpensive equipment, small spaces, and work well in family-based and center-based childcare facilities. Dr. Craft’s enthusiastic presentation style provides for plenty of interesting and fun hands-on, practical experiences for participants.

Preschool teachers, early childcare providers, parents, caregivers and others who work or live with young children ages 0-5 are welcome and invited to attend the workshop on June 10. Each participant will receive a FREE Active Play! Book and DVD, Certificate of Attendance awarded by Let’s Go! 5-2-1-0, and credit hours if applicable. A healthy lunch will also be provided. There is no cost to attend; however, pre-registration is required. Register online at: http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=7q9sdedab&oeidk=a07ee6nzg0e475fefc9

Registration deadline is Monday, June 5, 2017.
