WCCC’s OAC & Calais Recreation 3rd Annual Ice Fishing Derby

Washington County Community College’s Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) and Calais Parks and Recreation Department will again be hosting the Ice Fishing Derby on Boyden’s Lake Saturday, February 7th . The derby officially begins at 7:00 a.m. and the prizes will be awarded at 3:00 p.m.  This year there will be prizes for biggest fish caught and most fish along with some other smaller prizes. “This is the third year we have put this event on and it has been a smashing success each of the last two.” said OAC Coordinator Chris Woodside.  “I am looking forward to partnering with the college to offer a great event for the public.  There is nothing better than ice fishing in the winter” said Interim Recreation Director Craig Morrison.

Tickets are $10 each or $20 for immediate family and must be purchased in advance or between 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on derby day.  Advance ticket sales are available at Calais Recreation Department, Washington County Community College’s Business Office or Outdoor Adventure Center.  Food and refreshments will be available all day at the boat launch on Boyden’s Lake on the Ridge Road. New this year, the OAC will have ice skates available to rent for the day as well.

Directions from Calais:  Travel South on US Route 1, Just past the Robbinston Grade School take a Right onto the Ridge Road, continue up past the Lake Road, the boat landing is on your left.  Look for the College van and Ice Shacks.
