Maine Community College Students Named to All-Maine Academic Team

AUGUSTA, ME – Twenty-one Maine community college students have been named to the All-Maine Academic Team in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service.

The students receiving the award and a $500 scholarship from the MCCS Board of Trustees, are:

  • Patricia Benson, Dixfield, Central Maine Community College in Auburn;
  • Destiny Daigle, Jay, Central Maine Community College;
  • Caleb March, Otisfield, Central Maine Community College;
  • Emmanuel Reis, Livermore Falls, Central Maine Community College;
  • Lindsey Goughnour, Belfast, Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor;
  • Arthur Smallidge, Seal Harbor, Eastern Maine Community College;
  • Sydney Sutter, Bangor, Eastern Maine Community College;
  • Francine Wilson-Charuk, Bangor, Eastern Maine Community College;
  • Michelle Heath, Bangor, Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield/Hinckley;
  • Dana Maloney, Harpswell, Kennebec Valley Community College;
  • Aubrey Slater, Waterville, Kennebec Valley Community College;
  • Jaden Spaulding, Madison, Kennebec Valley Community College;
  • Melissa Gustin, Presque Isle, Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle;
  • Hannah Labbe Morin, Caribou, Northern Maine Community College;
  • Joseph Agostino, Saco, Southern Maine Community College in South Portland/Brunswick;
  • Felicity Brewer, Brunswick, Southern Maine Community College;
  • Hirruy Hagos, Cape Elizabeth, Southern Maine Community College;
  • Ngombe Muabi, Saco, Southern Maine Community College;
  • Elisabeth Ackerman, Machias, Washington County Community College in Calais;
  • Nicole Lemay, Windham, Washington County Community College and;
  • Ashli Ramsdell, Perry, Washington County Community College.

In addition, Francine Wilson-Charuk (EMCC) and Aubrey Slater (KVCC) have been named Maine New Century Scholars for earning the highest scores in the state on their All-USA Academic Team applications.

Wilson-Charuk has been named the 2023 Maine New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar and will receive a $2,250 scholarship.

Slater is the 2023 Maine New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar and will receive a $1,250 scholarship.

The New Century Pathway Scholarship program is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation, The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, the American Association of Community Colleges, and Phi Theta Kappa. Only one New Century Transfer and Workforce Scholar is selected from each state.

The All-Maine Academic Team is a program of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for two-year colleges. Students are nominated and selected for the team by their college.
