WCCC Collecting Toys for Local Children

November 29, 2017

The holiday season is one of the hardest times of the year to be away from home or to be experiencing a challenging family environment, especially for children. Some of the most vulnerable children in the community are being cared for at Sunrise Opportunities in Machias or at AMHC in Calais, both of which offer residential programs and staff support. To help brighten the holidays of those children, Washington County Community College is coordinating a toy drive for gently used or new toys and other amenities that will benefit these youths.

The items that are specifically requested – although none will be turned away – are puzzles and blocks for children ages 0-5, arts and crafts supplies for teenagers, gently used or new backpacks for teenagers, and blankets in good condition.

If you have some of these items, or any others that you would like to donate, you may drop them off in the front lobby of WCCC until December 18th. If you would like further information, contact Liz Sullivan at 454-1022 or esullivan@wccc.me.edu
